HAVE YOU MET PRETTY LITTER?

PetSmart

Did you know that one of the top killers of cats is kidney disease? By the time a cat is diagnosed with kidney disease nearly two-thirds of their kidney function is already gone. Given proper care, cats can live long, high-quality lives on surprisingly low levels of kidney function. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to detect a condition like this before the condition got to this critical point?

The issue is personal for me. I recently lost a cat to kidney disease. Cats are very good at hiding their pain, so illness can start small and grow large before your cat even starts to show symptoms of illness or pain.  I’m excited about Pretty Litter because early detection is of utmost importance. If one of my cats were ill, it would be great to detect the illness before my cat is feeling bad.

Please read about Pretty Litter below… and if you like what you see, please share it with your friends!

The Catnip Times: What is Pretty Litter?

Pretty Litter is an early-detection health-monitoring litter that changes color when a severe feline illness is detected. The litter changes color depending on the pH of the cat’s urine, or if certain substances are present.

  • Red = Blood
  • Orange = Bilirubin present
  • Yellow = Normal, no pH abnormality
  • Green = Abnormal acidity
  • Blue = Abnormal alkalinity

The Catnip Times: What types of conditions can Pretty Litter detect?

Pretty Litter can potentially detect the following conditions/disorders:

  • Urinary tract problem
  • Liver disease
  • Bladder disease
  • Kidney disease
  • Inflammation
  • Infections
  • Gall stones
  • Biliary obstructions
  • Cancer

The Catnip Times: How is Pretty Litter made?

The proprietary process of creating Pretty Litter uses evaporation of the water in your cat’s urine through the litter’s micro pores and instantly draws any moisture away from the surface trapping all odor. Each silica crystal has an absorption rate of 150% and urine is absorbed in a fraction of a second.  Water evaporates to leave dry litter that can be reused for an entire month. Pretty Litter completely locks away odors for that time.

The Catnip Times: What if I have multiple cats? How do I know which cat has a potential problem?

In multi-cat households the key is to be all to isolate which cat may be ill. Use Pretty Litter exclusively in the litter box all the cats use and if there is a color change, temporarily separate the litter box use to each cat. You can accomplish this by having spare litter boxes with spare bags of Pretty Litter.  This way you can isolate which cat may be ill.

The Catnip Times: Can I mix Pretty Litter with other litter?

Pretty Litter should not be mixed with other litter for two reasons: First, Pretty Litter’s white crystals make it easier to see the change in color. Mixing it with any other color litter (whether it be clay or blue crystals) will make it a lot harder to see the color change. Finally, mixing it with another litter dilutes Pretty Litter, potentially making it take longer to catch an illness.

The Catnip Times: What is Pretty Litter is made of and what happens if my cat accidently ingests it?

Pretty Litter uses advanced sensory technology to detect abnormal changes in your cat’s urine through pH changes affecting acidity and alkalinity, plus it also detects blood and bilirubin.  Pretty Litter is a natural product made from natural materials of silica gel and water.  Pretty Litter is feline safe and poses no health issue if ingested by your cat.  It naturally passes through your cat’s body if digested.

The Catnip Times: Can Pretty Litter be used to diagnose disorders or replace vet visits?

Absolutely not. Cat owners should continue to take their cats for annual veterinary exams and semi-annual exams for senior cats (usually defined as cats between 7 -10 years of age and older). Pretty Litter only provides a possible early detection for certain illnesses, not a diagnosis. A diagnosis can only come from a licensed Veterinarian.

The Catnip Times: Can Pretty Litter detect every feline health issue?

Pretty Litter cannot detect every feline health issue and if a cat is having any health issue their owner should contact their Veterinarian for advice even if Pretty Litter has not shown an abnormal color change. Cat owners should not assess or try to diagnose a cat’s condition for themselves.

I like pretty litter because it is light as a feather and absorbs odor so well. It doesn’t clump very well though so we use a non-perforated scoop to get majority of urine out if we can. Just blend the rest in and we don’t change it until we can smell it.
