On average cats sleep about 15 hours a day which is why they may have earned the reputation for being lazy. But while some cats are definitely more laid back, other cats use their waking hours to feed a frenzy of energy and activity. The following seven cat breeds are known for their playful nature and abundance of energy… (listed in no particular order).

Think Adoption First

At The Catnip Times, we believe that adoption should always be your first option when adding a new cat to your family. So look to your local animal shelter to find a cat that may be a mix.” For example, instead of getting a purebred siamese, look for cats with color points  there are many of them waiting in shelters. Plus when you adopt a shelter cat, you’ll see even more benefits including a) many characteristics of the full breed cat b) the hardiness of a cat that is not a pure-bred and c) you’ll be helping reduce cat homelessness and d) a friend for life.

Do you have a particularly playful cat? If so, tell us about him/her!
