A Deerfield-Bannockburn firefighter adopted a cat after rescuing the feline from a sewer line of a home that was under construction. A pipe fitter originally discovered the kitten and called 911. The fire department rescued the cat from the line without causing damage to the home and without causing harm to the kitten. The pipe fitter took the kitten to the veterinarian for a check-up and a bath. Then, firefighter Joe Miller, who was among the firefighters who responded to the call, fell in love and decided to adopt the kitten.

The Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Department said a pipe fitter was working on a house under construction. The worker discovered a small kitten trapped in a new sewer line of the house.
